This product is made from 15 ounce barathea wool, and features braided epaulettes and square silver (nickel plated) jacket buttons. Though the jacket has 3 buttons on each side down the front, these are never fastened. There are also three buttons on each jacket cuff and another eight on the short tails down the back.
Also comes with a matching navy 3 button, single breasted waistcoat, which is made from 100% new wool. Both the jacket and waistcoat are dry clean only. The Prince Charlie is traditionally worn with off-white socks, ghillie brogues, a full dress sporran, and a bow tie (or ruche tie depending on your preference).
When wearing your waistcoat with your Prince Charlie, you normally do not wear a kilt belt as the belt and buckle are not visible. Though named for the famous Jacobite leader, Prince Charlie jackets did not come into common usage until the 19th century, after the tartan revival initiated by Sir Walter Scott.
